Scent of Sorrento sources their properties via owners. As
much of our accommodation is of an authentic and localised
style then some of our arrangements with owners are of quite
an informal nature. The purpose of these guidelines is to
advise you of the Booking Conditions that are considered
very much ‘standard’ within the self-catering accommodation
industry in Europe and apply to your booking.
All accommodation costs, once paid are non-refundable.
It is condition of your booking that you have taken out a
quality comprehensive Travel Insurance policy to cover
unforeseen circumstances.
Additional overnight guests, over and above the number you
have booked for, can not arrive unexpectedly. If you
anticipate you may have extra visitors arriving this is
generally not a problem. Please ensure that Scent of
Sorrento is advised so we can let the owner know in advance.
This is a matter of courtesy as it is their private property
and they need to arrange appropriate linen.
At no stage can the guest numbers exceed the maximum number
allowed for that house.
Please allow time before you leave home to read our detailed
instructions and guidelines that will be included in your
final documentation. This saves any last minute queries. The
information supplied is continuously updated with hints and
tips from our own travels and those of our clients. If you
read this information before you leave you are sure to pick
up a few helpful ideas that will make a difference once you
are away. Please read the driving instructions, maps etc and
ensure you are happy with what has been supplied.
Complaints are few and far between. It is vital that any
serious complaint, especially one potentially involving any
sort of compensation, is dealt with while you are at the
property so that all parties have the opportunity to remedy
the situation as soon as possible. You need to first speak
with the owner/key holder. Secondly with the agency (if
there is one) if you have had no satisfaction. And most
certainly let Scent of Sorrento know if you need assistance.
Failure to do this may make it impossible to investigate
your complaint fully and may effect your right to any
compensation. If you are not happy with the accommodation we
will do our utmost to resolve the matter with the owner/agent
but Scent of Sorrento is not responsible for the condition
of the accommodation. Full contact details will be in your
documentation.
As our properties are primarily privately owned and of a
characteristic and quaint nature complaints relating to e.g.
the personal furnishing choices of the owner or similar can
not be considered.
Unexpected roadworks, nearby building/renovation work or
similar are beyond the control of any owner or Scent of
Sorrento. This also applies to noise issues e.g. traffic,
local festivals or summer street parties, barking dogs,
church bells, early morning rooster calls plus other aspects
e.g. local smells.
You are responsible for any damage or breakages during your
stay. E.g. a stain on the carpet, overflowing bath, fire,
consequent loss of income for the owner etc. Be prepared
that the owner’s insurance often only covers natural
disasters or a proven fault in the house during the period
while holiday guests are in residence. This is considered
quite normal in many European countries. All good Travel
Insurance policies offer Personal Liability compensation for
property damage. Every guest should have their own coverage.
Scent of Sorrento prides itself on its quality of service
and commitment to the customer. However, in the unlikely
event that we have to make changes to your holiday due to
exceptional and unforeseen circumstances such as emergency
structural repairs etc, we will advise you at the earliest
possible date. We will do our utmost to find a property of
similar value or offer you the option of a full refund. In
the event of a force majeure (extreme weather, war, threat
of war, earthquake and other natural or nuclear disasters,
act of God, industrial disputes, riot, fire, terrorism, or
any other event outside our control), and Scent of Sorrento
is forced to cancel your holiday, you will not be entitled
to compensation.
Scent of Sorrento acts as the booking agent for the owner/provider
of the accommodation and, therefore, it is the owner/provider
who is responsible under Italian law for any claims you may
have for injuries/accidents arising from their negligence in
providing the accommodation. Moreover, Scent of Sorrento
does not accept responsibility for any default on the part
of other travel companies, passenger service or holiday
accommodation, which has not been booked through us. We
endeavour to describe all our properties as accurately as
possible to the best of our knowledge at the time of
publication. However, owners occasionally do make changes to
properties and services offered please check at the time of
booking.
Once a booking comes into existence you have agreed to pay
the total cost of the holiday. On arrival, a refundable
security deposit will be required on an average of
approximately €150/200 (more can be requested for large or
luxurious properties), please check the booking voucher.
This can be paid in cash. The deposit will be refunded on
departure, less cost of damage or breakages caused to the
property. Keys will be handed over on payment of the deposit.
You must leave the property in the same state of cleanliness
and repair in which you found it. The owner/agent reserves
the right to withhold some or all of your deposit to meet
the cost of cleaning/repair. The owners/agents reserve the
right to terminate the rental agreement if you, or any
member of your party, fail to respect the property and its
contents. You will be held liable for any breakages/repairs.
If you are delayed in reaching your property or need to
curtail the length of your stay, due to illness, delays,
personal reasons etc. no refund can be made.
Arrival/Departure - On arrival, please show your passport,
booking confirmation and pay any local charges to the owner/agent.
As a general rule, arrivals take place between 15.00 and
18.00 (please check your directions letter). Outside these
hours, special arrangements have to be made and there could
be late arrival charges. You must vacate your property by
10.30 a.m. Properties outside city center are booked on a
Saturday-to-Saturday basis but arrival in the middle of the
week is sometimes possible during low season. City center
properties can be booked any day of the week according to
availability.
Rates do fluctuate in line
with exchange rates and will be recalculated on the day
final balance payments are collected. You will be advised if
additional monies are due.
30% deposit is required for all reservations. The
balance is paid 8 weeks before arrival. |
